NICE, FRANCE (CBS11) - Crowds of people celebrating Bastille Day started sprinting to find safety after investigators said a truck loaded with gun and grenades stormed through the streets of Nice, France.

Among the mass of people running for their lives, a tourist from Dallas, Kristen Crouch.

"I heard like two pops. I thought it was fireworks and then didn't think anything of it but all sudden all these people were running in the opposite direction speaking in French and screaming." said Crouch.

Crouch is overseas for a friend's wedding.

As she and her group started to realize dozens had been killed, they took cover in a nearby apartment.

"It's really sad when you you've been marked safe twice on Facebook in the last week. We shouldn't live in a world like that," said Crouch.

As she and her friends made their way back to their hotel, they saw ambulances, police cars and cops patting down folks walking down the street.

"We quickly got back to the hotel and locked the door we locked door and plan on staying here," said Crouch.

Having seen what happened in Dallas last Thursday and then to go through this attack, Crouch said she is relieved to be safe.

"It's just very surreal I think we're all in shock there's five of us right now just watching CNN and watching news as that number climbs we can't believe it actually happened right in front of our hotel and just thanking God we're okay," said Crouch.
