DESOTO/DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A murder suspect has been arrested after a citizen spotted the 36-year-old on the Desoto/Dallas border, Dallas police said Saturday.

Dallas police said the department had been searching for James Hightower in connection with the death of 27-year-old Joshua Harewood. Harewood was shot on Lewiston Ave, south of I-30 in southeast Dallas, and pronounced dead at the scene on March 23.

Investigators say the citizen recognized Hightower and contacted police. Dallas and Desoto police responded, and Dallas police arrested him and took him to their headquarters. Hightower is in Dallas County Jail on $200,000 bond.

Dallas police thanked the citizen and Desoto police in a blog post.
