Bruce Willis To Fight For iTunes Inheritance
NEW YORK (CNET) - Just when you thought nothing stranger could come out of Hollywood, veteran actor Bruce Willis is reportedly looking to take on Apple in a bid to pass on his vast music collection to his children after his death, according to The Daily Mail.
The "Die Hard" star, in between escaping from terrorist captors and blowing things up, has spent thousands on his iTunes collection across a number of iPods, and wants to leave it to his children in the event of his death.
But Willis could come face-to-face with a real-life formidable opponent in Apple, should he take on the technology giant over who owns the rights to the music bought on iTunes.
Willis is reportedly concerned that the rights to his music collection will be passed back to Apple, entitling his children to nothing. He is said to be looking at setting up trusts to act as legal "holders" of the music, but could also bring a lawsuit against Apple to clarify the terms or force a change in policy.
When you download a music track from the iTunes Store, you are in effect renting that content indefinitely under license.
UPDATE: Emma Heming-Willis, the actor's wife, tweeted claims that the story is not true.
