Bill White Kicks Up Votes On Texas Colleges
DENTON (AP) - Gubernatorial candidate Bill White has kicked off a campaign tour of Texas colleges in a honky-tonk near the University of North Texas campus with singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen on guitar and backup vocals.
In cowboy boots, faded jeans and a crisp button-down, White strolled through the Rockin Rodeo shaking hands and posing for cell-phone photos Friday.
The Democrat encouraged about 140 supporters at the club to vote and e-mail their friends to do so also.
With a nod toward one of Keen's most popular songs, "The Road Goes on Forever," White said "the toll roads don't need to go on forever; Rick Perry's party is about to be over."
White and Keen then headed for Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas A&M University and Texas State University in San Marcos.
