Best Brick Oven Pizzas In The DFW Area

Pizza originated in Italy but has long since taken various forms across the United States. True Italian pizza is cooked in an oven burning at temperatures around 900 degrees and only takes 90 seconds to bake before being ready to serve. Whether following the Italian model or branching out with their own style, these DFW restaurants have mastered some of the best brick-oven pizzas around.

Cane Rosso, or "red dog" when translated into English, is located in Deep Ellum. This spot makes one of only two pizzas that are certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. This certification is given only if a restaurant follows strict rules in preparation and specific natural ingredients that keep with the true Naples, Italy tradition. Choose from such delicious pies like the Zoli (Italian tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, sausage and hot soppressata), Paulie Gee (Italian tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, hot soppressata, caramelized onions and chilis) or the Delia (fresh mozzarella, roasted grape tomatoes, spicy bacon marmalade and arugula). Cane Rosso began as just a mobile pizza kitchen, which can still be found daily at different locations around the Metroplex. But for a dine-in experience, visit this Commerce Street location.

As its name implies, Coal Vines does a couple of things well, and those are pizza and wine. The thin-crust pizza can be made to order, but its signature varieties like the White Special involve tastes that are already tried and true. This particular pie comes packed with cheesy goodness including mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan and oregano. With only six pizza options, each is a sure bet for a tasty meal. However, if these don't quite fill the bill for your palate, add your own toppings like pepperoni, anchovies, cherry peppers and spinach, among others. When the weather is right, the whole restaurant is open to the fresh night air, creating the perfect ambiance for an evening of pizza and wine.

The little brother of Kirby's Steakhouse, this upscale restaurant specializes in wood-fire cuisine of all types. Pizza is just one of the specialties at this Dallas staple, but a delicious one nonetheless. From the Truffle Mushroom Trio to the Italian Stallion, and even what is often a simple Margherita, each pie includes the right amount of cheeses and herbs for an intense flavor. It is also across the street from the Granada Theater, making it a great spot to have dinner before going to a show.

When dining at Campania, expect nothing but the best. You can't go wrong with ingredients like mozzarella made from buffalo milk that has been flown in from Italy; the country where fresh, natural ingredients are the norm on pizza. But this pizza goes beyond just the cheese. Choose from such options like the Amalfi topped with mozzarella, Italian sausage, mushrooms, basil and tomato sauce or the more fishy option of a Napoletana pie that comes with mozzarella, anchovies, basil and tomato sauce. The original location for Campania is in West Village and is BYOB, but the Southlake restaurant has two full bars and three levels, including a rooftop patio with live music.
