NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - In case you missed it last week -- there's a new face on the anchor desk alongside Doug Dunbar at 5p, 6p and 10p Monday through Friday on CBS 11.

Journalist Nicole Baker joins us from our sister station in Baltimore. To help our viewers get to know her a bit better, she's sharing 11 facts about herself.

  1. She's a southern girl at heart. Nicole was born in Philadelphia, but her mom's side of the family is from Georgia and she's a graduate of Atlanta's Spelman College. She likes to say she was born up North, but the South raised her. She's equal parts city and country -- not unlike the DFW metroplex.
  2. Nicole's musical taste stretches from Dolly to Drake -- and a little bit of everything in between.
  3. She's a dog mom to two pups: a Maltipoo named Jackson and a Goldendoodle named Nas.
  4. Nicole loves barbecue (she moved to the right place), particularly brisket, ribs and homemade baked beans.
  5. Family means a lot to her. Nicole has two younger brothers named Jordan and Jeremiah that she treats as her own children. And you may have noticed a tattoo she has on her wrist -- it's a tribute to her late grandmothers.
  6. She's a former pageant girl.
  7. Nicole is a legacy member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and is eager to join a local chapter.
  8. We asked Nicole for her favorite movie and television show. She can't pick. But Morning Glory is one of her most-watched movies. As far as TV, she loves The Wire -- she says it's the best television show. Period.
  9. Christmas is her favorite time of year.
  10. As far as career accomplishments, Nicole is proud of the franchise she created at CBS Baltimore centered on health and wellness. She also created a trending segment at her past station called The Baltimore Buzz. She's excited to bring that creativity to CBS DFW.
  11. Last but certainly not least -- she's very excited to get out into the community and get to know all of the viewers that support the CBS 11 family. Be sure to follow Nicole on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and watch her at the anchor desk with Doug Dunbar at 5p, 6p and 10p.
