Autopsies Completed On Novi Family-Victims of Murder-Suicide

Autopsies have been completed on a Novi family of four who  died in an apparent triple murder-suicide.

Oakland County medical examiner  Dr.  L. J. Dragovic conducted the autopsies on 39-year-old Mark Schons, his wife Jennifer,  and their two sons.  Police believe he killed his family, then himself.

Dragovic has ruled that 38-year-old Jennifer Schons died from multiple sharp force injuries and that the two boys, 6-year-old Tynan and 4-year-old Camden , died from asphyxia due to compression.  All three were found in their beds at their home on Applebrook in Novi on Friday.

39-year-old Mark Schons died from carbon monoxide poisoning ...an apparent suicide since he was found in his s-u-v at Milford Road and I-96 in Lyon Township.

Novi Police are investigating, but  Police Chief David Molloy said the couple was having marital and financial problems and had filed for bankruptcy, according to WWJ's Beth Fisher.

A statement from police said officers were conducting a welfare check of a home near Napier and Nine Mile roads and found three people dead.

A family friend had called police around lunch time after two children didn't show up at school and Jennifer Schons had missed a scheduled appointment.

Around 2:30 Friday afternoon Oakland County sheriff deputies located a suspect's vehicle in the area of Milford Road and I-96.  Deputies approached the vehicle and found  Mark Schons dead due to an apparent suicide.
