Man Charged In Fatal Stabbing In Dispute Over Pot Proceeds To Get Competency Exam
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 42-year-old Detroit man will undergo competency and criminal responsibility exams to determine if he is fit to face trial for murder.
Jason Alan Boyce, charged in the fatal stabbing of 55-year-old Obiedious Warren Moore of Farmington Hills on Oct. 22, appeared Wednesday in 36th District Court.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutors Office, Boyce was arguing with Moore about proceeds from their marijuana grow operation — in the 100 block of Green, near Fort Street and I-75 — when Boyce picked up "a sharp instrument" and stabbed the older man in the neck, killing him.
While police were searching for suspects, Boyce turned himself in.
The Medical Examiner determined that Moore died from multiple stab wounds and Boyce was charged with second degree murder.
During a probable cause conference, Judge Deborah Lewis Langston referred Boyce to the forensic center to be evaluated. She set his next court date for Feb. 2, 2017.
