Livonia man accused of killing 4 people, including his parents, found incompetent to stand trial for now
A Livonia, Michigan, man accused of killing four people — his parents, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend — was found incompetent to stand trial at this time, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.
The case involves Gage Wade Pierce, who is facing four counts each of first-degree murder and felony firearm.
The decision that Pierce was found incompetent to stand trial for now was made during a competency hearing on Thursday in 16th District Court. His next court date is another competency hearing scheduled for Oct. 29, court records show.
The shooting happened on June 9 at a home on Rensello Road in Livonia. The victims were Sterling Ray Pierce, 58, and Holly Marie Kimball, 53, who were the suspect's parents, along with his brother Tanner Pierce, 22, and Nevaeh May Jaslynn Finch, 21. Police say Finch was the girlfriend of Tanner Pierce.
All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators say all four victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds. An injured dog was also found in the home and taken to an emergency veterinary service for treatment.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
Pierce was arraigned on June 12 in the 16th District Court. Bond was denied, and he was remanded back into custody at that time.
The murder charges each have a penalty of up to life in prison, and the felony firearm charges each have a penalty of up to two years in prison.
