Proceeds from all burger sales on Nov. 30 will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of South Oakland County in honor of the restaurant's first anniversary.

Before the special event, Jim Brady's Detroit brought some samples by our CBS Detroit studios so we could give them a try. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any dish on the menu but if you want a tasty burger without all the fuss, go with the Charlie Brown!

Jim Brady's Detroit is located at 1214 S. Main Street in Royal Oak. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight.

Diamond Jim Brady's Special Sandwich

Better bring your appetite for this 1/2 pound burger, because it's huge. It's easy to see why this classic burger is what made Jim Brady's famous back in the day -- it has that great, all-American flavor without any fancy frills. The outside of the burger I ate had the perfect char and was extremely juicy inside. After my first bite, I was transported to a summertime cookout, grabbing a burger that was grilled by dear old Dad.

Charlie Brown

You might be wondering why this burger is called the Charlie Brown. Well, back in the 1960s, Chuck "Charlie Brown" Walton was a regular at the Original Jim Brady's, and this was how he ordered his burger every time, smothered in melted Swiss cheese and topped with crispy bacon strips. I mean, can you blame the guy? Bacon literally makes everything better. And the cheese is just the cherry on top.

Caesar Salad

If burgers aren't your thing -- don't worry, because Jim Brady's still has something for you. Like this 7 Mile Caesar Salad. Crisp and crunchy greens are tossed in the original Caesar dressing recipe from 1954, which has a really interesting texture. It's not exactly creamy like you would expect from a traditional Caesar dressing, but it's not runny like a vinaigrette either -- it's right in the middle.

Jim Brady's Original Recipe Chili

Now here is a cup of chili that anyone can eat, no matter how low your tolerance is for heat, because it's not very spicy. I'd barely rate this as a one alarm chili, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a thick but smooth texture with just a little spice. And it's really meaty! Every bite I took had a chunk of ground beef in it. This is another dish that uses the original recipe from 1954 and it's easy to see why. What ain't broke, don't need a fixin'.

Shrimp Cocktail

I have to start this by saying I don't eat seafood. Quite frankly, I've kind of been repulsed by it, and maybe that has something to do with the fact that I grew up with a salt water aquarium in the home. If "Finding Nemo" taught me anything, it's that fish are friends, not food! But I know I'm in the minority here and most people lose their minds for some good seafood. And because these shrimp looked so big and meaty, I really wanted to give it a try. But I just couldn't do it. I had the shrimp in front of my mouth, about to take a bite, and I started gagging. I pushed through it and was able to put the shrimp in my mouth, but I couldn't bite down. It's not because the shrimp tasted bad -- others in the newsroom really enjoyed the shrimp -- it's just me. This dish looked really pretty, though!
