Drop In Workshops At The Detroit Institute Of Arts

Art workshops can bring out the artist in any of us. Take a break from the weekend routine and try a 'Drop In Workshop' at the DIA.

The popular workshops welcome the community to their studios to unleash their creative side. The studios supply the art-making materials like colored pencils, markers, felt, decorative papers, oil pastels and more.

The themes change regularly and often reflect an exhibit that is headlining at the museum. "It's a Zoo in Here" is the latest exhibit inspiring workshop participants who drop in on Saturdays in September.

To inspire, DIA studio artists place a mixture of animal sculptures on tables for participants to draw using their own interpretation.

The finished works of art hang in the corridor to the Learning Center for all to admire. Drop in Workshops occur on Fridays from 6 to 9 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4.
