"Research shows more and more that if people make healthy life decisions that will also correlate to healthy financial decisions. And the second piece to it is, you work so hard to get to retirement, we want to make sure you're healthy and can really enjoy that retirement," said Blake Bostwick, chief operations officer for Transamerica.

The company will be fielding a team of runners, encouraging employees to sign up for either the half marathon, the 10k or the 5k. There is also the Remix Challenge for runners who want to do the 5K on Saturday, and the half marathon on Sunday. Transamerica has several hundred employees in Denver and some of its runners will be pounding the pavement for charity.

"We've got a group called the Tomorrow Chasers. Myself and four other individuals will be running and everybody that we pass, we'll be donating $1 to the American Heart Association. So it's really cool. It's giving back and our employees and the broader community will really enjoy this," Bostwick told CBS4.
The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Half Marathon is the weekend of October 15 & 16. It features live bands along every mile of the course, as well as a finish line concert featuring G. Love & Special Sauce.
