Rifle Man Accused Of Selling Edibles To Teen Who 'Wanted To Start Own Business'

RIFLE, Colo. (CBS4) - A Rifle man is accused of buying marijuana edibles for a high school student.

Deputies say Hector Manuel Ruiz, 21, bought the edibles for a 16-year-old. The teen then sold them at Coal Ridge High School in New Castle.

Investigators confiscated $76 from the student who told them he wanted to start his own business.

According to the Post Independent in Glenwood Springs, the investigation began on Feb. 4 when a student got sick after eating part of a cookie that tested positive for marijuana using a home drug test. The student told police she didn't know there was pot in the cookie.

Ruiz faces charges of possession of marijuana or marijuana concentrate in excess of the legal limit and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both are felonies.
