Residents Near Fort Collins Oppose New Campsites
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Residents near Horsetooth Reservoir west of Fort Collins are urging officials to drop a plan to add more campsites amid concerns of increased noise in the area and blocked views.
People who live near the recreation area gathered 100 signatures in opposition to the plan. They told the Larimer County Parks Advisory Board last week that they are worried about having more traffic, noise, and that RV sites would obstruct their views.
Parks officials approved the plan to add nine more campsites and say a buffer can be created so residents don't see the new sites.
The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports that it's now up to the county commissioners to consider the plan Tuesday.
Officials say it would cost $239,000 to build the sites. It's estimated they would generate $57,000 annually.
