Denver Police Hoping To Round Up 25 Fugitives
DENVER (CBS4/AP) - Denver Police are hoping to track down 25 fugitives this weekend wanted for a wide range of violent crimes including murder and sexual assault on a child.
Photos of the 25 fugitives are being published Sunday in The Denver Post. A command center will be set up Sunday to gather tips from the public by phone, text message and web mail.
"They're extremely dangerous and we want to get them off the street," US Marshal Roberto Rodriguez said.
Law enforcement wanted to shorten the list to put more emphasis on the caliber of dangerous crimes.
"Somebody that looks at this here may scan through it a little bit quicker," Rodriguez said.
Richard Heeringa was on trial for sex assault on a child. He disappeared the night before his verdict was read and has been missing for about a year. The only female on the list is Jessica Lynn Wilkerson, wanted for assault and felony menacing. Police believe she's still in Colorado.
"Anything can help ... anything will help in locating these people," Rodriguez said.

Last year through anonymous tips police captured 33 out of 50 fugitives on their list. This year they hope all 25 will be brought to justice.
"Keep your eyes open and realize that you can provide information how unimportant you may feel it is, it's always important to law enforcement," Mike Mills with CrimeStoppers said.
On Sunday No. 12 on the list, Jessica Lynn Wilkerson, 27, was taken into custody. She was on the run for 2 years.
Police say informants can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
Tips will be passed on to law-enforcement agencies. A dozen federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies and crime-fighting groups are participating.
The phone number for tips is (720) 913-7867. Text message can be sent to CRIMES (274637), title DMCS. Web mail messages can be sent at http://metro-denvercrimestoppers.com/report.html.
