Colorado Man Accused Of Having Pipe Bomb In North Dakota

WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) — The criminal case against a Colorado man accused having pipe bombs and guns in North Dakota's oil patch has been moved from state to federal court.

KXMB-TV reports that 29-year-old Dustin Swartz, of Arvada, Colorado, is charged with two counts: possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon and unlawful possession of unregistered firearm.

Swartz was arrested following a Jan. 26 report of a man carrying guns and knives in a Watford City trailer home park. Some residents say they feared for their safety.

Authorities say a search of Swartz's vehicle turned up two pipe bombs, two rifles, a pistol and about 950 rounds of ammunition as well as a bullet-proof vest.

Swartz made his initial appearance Thursday. His lawyer's office says he did not want to comment.
