Child Dies After Being Found Unconscious At Windsor Day Care

WINDSOR, Colo. (CBS4) - A baby has died after being found unconscious in a playpen at a day care in Windsor.

Authorities say it appears 11-month-old Kaleah Mummery got stuck somewhere between a wall and a mattress on the playpen. She died at The Children's Hospital just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mummery had been taken by Flight for Life to the hospital.

Police have already begun the interviews on the investigation. They had a very primary interview with a caregiver who tried to revive Mummery. They also had an interview with the primary caregiver at A Child's World Day Care. It was closed Wednesday and now seems it will be closed indefinitely.

Police are unsure right now if it was an accidental death or if foul play was involved. They are waiting results of an autopsy and they say that's where they may get their best answers.

"Any unattended death gets our full attention, full investigation. We can't make any determinations at this point," Windsor Police Chief John martin said.

Autopsy results are expected later Wednesday or at some point Thursday.
