1987: Broncos Shut Out Chargers

The Denver Broncos shutout the San Diego Chargers, 24-0, in the final game of the 1987 regular on December 27, before a crowd of just over 21,000 people. Why so few? Mile High Stadium was sold out, but less than half of the ticket holders showed up in a nasty snowstorm and 20-degree weather. Those who were able to make it, witnessed the Broncos score on offense, defense, and special teams, dominating a team that was clearly out of their element of sunny Southern California. Ironically enough, Denver's 42-10 Super Bowl loss to Washington happened in San Diego.
