When asked why he backed off plans to impose a 20% fee on ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, the president said instead that Gulf countries will be making more investments and trade deals with the U.S.

More strikes have been launched by the U.S. and Iran after a ceasefire over the Strait of Hormuz fell apart.
The president also says the U.S. plans to act as a guardian for the important waterway and will charge cargo ships a 20% security fee. However, Iran says they will not allow the U.S. to interfere in the management of the strait.
