During each attempt, a man engaged a child in conversation and then attempted to lure the child into his vehicle, according to Area South detectives.
Officers responding to a tip about an armed bicyclist in the area saw a male riding a bicycle in the 13300 block of South Forestville about 9:35 p.m. The officers approached him to conduct a field interview, at which point he reached into his waistband and pulled out a semiautomatic handgun, police said.
Most recently, a 25-year-old man walked into Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center after he was shot in the hand in the 7800 block of South South Shore Drive, police said.
About 3 a.m., a 36-year-old man was heading north on I-94 in a 2007 Ford Taurus when a 22-year-old man ran across the roadway near 120th Street and was hit.
The boy was shot in the leg about 8:45 p.m. after he walked past two males in the 13100 block of South Corliss Avenue and then heard shots and felt pain.
About 9:30 p.m., the 26-year-old was found with two gunshot wounds to the head in the 11300 block of South Forest Avenue.
The 29-year-old was walking with a friend in the 400 block of West 117th Street a few minutes after midnight when shots were fired.
