Authorities were called at 3:14 p.m. with reports of clothes on fire in a bedroom of a house in the 1000 block of Center Street, according to a statement from the Elgin Fire Department. Crews arrived within two minutes to see smoke coming from a second-floor window and occupants evacuating the building.
