On Friday, the ground was finally broken on the last phase of work.
The plan would set up a city-owned nonprofit developer to oversee a $135 million fund to provide loans to developers to build environmentally friendly affordable housing.

These affordable homes will be near Ferdinand and Lockwood. The nonprofit says construction of the first three homes in Austin is expected to be completed by next year.
To make the LaSalle Street corridor feel more like a neighborhood, the city plans to build 1,400 mixed-income apartments in the coming years.
Scott is giving $15 million to the Community Investment Corporation, a nonprofit lender that helps buy, rehab, and preserve affordable rental housing.
