Teen Shot During Robbery In West Englewood
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A teen was shot after a group tried to rob him of his bicycle Tuesday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The boy, 16, was riding his bike in the 1700 block of West 71st Street about 7:55 p.m. when he was approached by a group of males, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said, citing preliminary information.
The group told him to give up his bike and when he tried to ride away, one of the males brandished a gun and fired shots at him, striking him in the right thigh, Zala said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "stable" condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Area South detectives are investigating.
