At Least 10 Shot Across Chicago On Tuesday
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least 10 men were wounded in nine separate shootings across Chicago Tuesday.
Most recently, a man in his 20s was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side.
The man was in the 9900 block of South Wentworth Avenue about 9:55 p.m. when he was shot in the hand, police said. He was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.
About 7:45 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 4400 block of West Palmer Street. He was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center where he was listed in "stable" condition, police said.
Two hours earlier, a 31-year-old man was shot while walking in the 6900 block of South Eggleston Avenue in Englewood. The man took himself to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center with a gunshot wound to the buttocks, police said. His condition was not immediately known.
According to a police source, the man is a documented gang member.
About 4:45 p.m., a 44-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 8200 block of South Paxton Avenue, police said. He was taken to South Shore Hospital in "stable" condition.
At 3:21 p.m., two men, ages 24 and 29, were shot while in the 5900 block of West Washington Boulevard in the Austin neighborhood, police said. The 24-year-old was shot in the leg and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in "stable" condition. The other man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was listed in serious condition, police said.
Earlier in the afternoon, another man was shot in Austin.
About 12:15 p.m., a man thought to be in his 20s was shot in the 4900 block of West Augusta Boulevard, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to his buttocks, but his condition was not immediately known.
An hour earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. The man was shot in the arm and leg about 11:15 a.m. in the 2200 block of West 72nd Street, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "serious but stable" condition.
The day's first shooting was reported about 11:10 a.m. in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The 28-year-old was shot in the left elbow and buttocks in the 10600 block of South Wentworth Avenue, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in "stable" condition as of late Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Police said the man was shot during a domestic incident and a weapon was recovered.
No one is in custody for any of the shootings as area detectives investigate.
