The Artemis II crew surprised a 5-year-old boy space enthusiast and answered "CBS Mornings" co-host Gayle King's true or false questions about burping in space and whether you become taller in space. The crew appeared for a CBS News town hall "Artemis II: A Celebration of Heroes."
The House on Thursday passed a bill to restore funding to most agencies within DHS, ending a record partial government shutdown. The compromised measure, which unanimously passed the Senate more than a month ago, does not accomplish what either party was holding out for. Nikole Killion reports.
Bill Nye The Science Guy, the chief ambassador of The Planetary Society, joins "CBS Mornings" to demonstrate some experiments that break down the Artemis II mission.
During a CBS News town hall with the Artemis II crew, Victor Glover spoke about being the first person of color to fly to or around the moon. "I focused a lot on working with this team," Glover told the audience.
Artemis astronauts answered questions from students on the advice they would give to aspiring astronauts, their dream for space exploration, and also detailed the toilet malfunction and what showering in space was like.
In a heartwarming moment, the Artemis II crew surprised Jack, a 5-year-old space enthusiast and aspiring astronaut, with a new spacesuit signed by the astronauts.
Artemis II pilot Victor Glover spoke about his dreams for space exploration, which includes astronauts making it to Mars one day. The crew also revealed if they would return to space.
Ron Howard joined "CBS Mornings" to talk about directing his 11995 film, "Apollo 13," and the duality of watching the Artemis II astronauts' liftoff in April. The crew also shared how Howard's film impacted them, and Howard recalled a story where he told Kevin Bacon, "You get 10 extra close-ups if you keep your mouth shut!"
While taking questions from students, Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman encouraged the live "CBS Mornings" studio audience to "find the thing you love doing" when considering your future.
