X-Rays On Red Sox Youkilis Negative

BOSTON (CBS) - X-Rays on Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis' left shin came back negative, Manager Terry Francona said after Boston's 4-2 extra innings win over the Los Angeles Angels.

"He's sore," said Francona. "He was x-rayed and they were negative, which is good. He'll be re-evaluated (Friday). He was pretty sore."

Youkilis fouled a ball off his shin in the top of the first inning but remained in the game. He did not take the field for the bottom of the second inning, and was replaced by Marco Scutaro (who played shortstop with Jed Lowrie taking over at third base).

Youkilis has struggled to start 2011, batting just .214 in the first 18 games. He had started to show signs of turning it around, going 4-for-13 with two home runs and three RBIs in the last three games before suffering the injury.
