A package containing white powder was discovered in the boy's bathroom around 10:30 a.m.
State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said the substance found in the school was not hazardous. Twenty people, though, were decontaminated as a precaution.
"It was important to ramp up the presence here in case someone got sick later," a fire department spokesperson said.
As a result, there are no concerns for student safety, and everything will be on schedule at the school on Monday.
The material will soon be tested at DPH lab in Jamaica Plain as officials want to determine what the material was and why it was packaged in a way that raised concern.
No one was injured.
Local and federal authorities are investigating.
