Two Men Charged With Assaulting State Troopers During Traffic Stop In Andover

ANDOVER (CBS) - Two men were arrested Friday night after allegedly roughing up a couple of State Troopers during a traffic stop.

The Troopers had pulled over the men's car on Route 93 South in Andover Friday night after determining the driver had an expired license.

State Police say the men also were illegally transporting fireworks and had drugs in the car.

Officials did not say how the altercation started but indicated one Trooper suffered an eye injury and the other suffered a shoulder injury.

Both were treated and released from Lawrence General Hospital

The suspects, whose names have not been released, were arrested and charged with resisting arrest, assault on police officers, possession of class C and E drugs, and illegal possession of fireworks.
