Toucher & Rich: Welker Open To Patriots Reunion, Chris Gronkowski Talks Family Sword Fights

BOSTON (CBS) - 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show were joined by a few special guests in studio on Tuesday: Wes Welker, Chris Gronkowski and Dr. Robert Leonard.

The lengthy conversation started with Welker, who is still without a home in the National Football League after his contract expired at the end of the season.

Welker, who many fear for his next concussion, has been cleared by all the top doctors and says he'll be ready to go when the call is made.

"I want to play. The more I'm away from it the more I want to go out there and be on a team and everything else. It's just kind of taking everything a day at a time, making sure I'm training and doing everything I need to do to be ready," Welker told T&R.

"Once June really gets going here and July I'll be [training] really hard, and just knowing that I'm going to be ready. There will be an opportunity at some point," he said optimistically. "If it works out, if it's a good situation and everything else, obviously I want to continue playing."

When it comes to convincing that next team to take a shot on signing Welker, he understands that it will most likely come down to dollars and cents, not proving his health.

Welker seems open minded on his next NFL employer, even keeping the door open for a potential return to New England.

"I wouldn't be opposed to it. It's a great organization, obviously, and a great team. It wouldn't be the worst situation in the world," he said, while adding he's never seriously considered retiring.

"At times you're sitting there and thinking, 'Well maybe I should.' I think it's just people kind of [pressuring you], but the more you think about it, and you're away from it, I'm not ready to [retire]. I still feel good," he said. "I still feel like I have some really good football left in me. I've always said [I'll play] until the wheels fall off."

One thing is for sure, and that is Wes Welker will have a great second career in the horse racing industry. This year was the first time that Rob Gronkowski attended the Kentucky Derby, and needless to say it really wasn't his scene.

"It's always a good trip for us. Rob [Gronkowsk] actually came along this trip. It's funny, because the Kentucky Derby really isn't his scene. He wants like the loud music and dancing and everything. He wants it loud enough so he doesn't have to talk to the girls, so he can just dance with them," Welker joked.

Even though Welker owns a stable of horses, he's still allowed to have a lot of fun at the Derby, although he probably won't be handing out $100 bills anymore.

"I think everyone knows I have a good time at the Kentucky Derby," he joked.

Hanging out with Wes Welker and other Patriots at the Kentucky Derby would be a blast, but probably nowhere close to the type of fun the Gronkowski family has on a regular basis.

Chris Gronkowski, also a patient of Dr. Robert Leonard, says a lot of the fun will stop for him now that he's getting married.

What is a Gronkowski bachelor party video like, you ask?

"Take every video you've seen [of us] and times it by 10," Chris said.

Rich is amazed that more of these videos aren't released on the internet, just based on the amount of partying the Gronkowskis do. But Chris basically said the market is flooded with them, so websites probably aren't willing to pay for them anymore.

Rich tried to relay a story that he had read to Chris Gronkowski, about how someone tried sneaking into the bathroom to take a picture of his brother Rob's tight front end.

Gronkowski thought Rich was talking about another story, one that involved a family sword fight inside a bathroom at the ESPY Awards.

"I think we were at the ESPYs, and at the bathroom the line was taking forever, you do what every normal family would do: you go and have a sword fight with all of us. I think there was all five brothers," Chris said.

"A sword fight? So you guys are just all in there peeing on each other, basically?" Welker asked in astonishment [approx 9:30 in video above].

"I mean, you don't pee on each other. But then, what kind of reporter actually comes in there and then writes a story about that? Come on. That was crazy. I couldn't believe that article. I thought it was fake," Gronkowski said.

The in-studio appearance only got more weird after that, when a Gronkowski (stalker) fan called in and Chris knew who it was right away. This lady has gone through great lengths to meet the family on multiple occasions.

Welker also talked about what it was like seeing some of his former Patriots teammates win the Super Bowl, and Gronkowski reveals that he and his brothers will be shooting an episode for Family Feud.

All that and much more!
