Thornton on T&R: Bruins Frustrated But 'Have To Stay Positive'
The celebrations and Stanley Cup parties are over for the Bruins and the season is revving up. The Bruins have struggled so far, winning only 1 of their first 4 games.
Bruins forward Shawn Thornton joined Toucher & Rich to talk about this rough start to the season, the offense and the new additions.
Thornton is known to throw down the gloves every now and then in the hopes of boosting his team's emotion. So far this season it seems that people are hesitant to throw down and dance. Are teams now aware of how much this physical play lifts this team?
The offense has had trouble burying the puck at time so far this season. For example, Milan Lucic has had some great scoring opportunities but couldn't finish. How do you get out of a scoring issue where it seems like the net just shrinks?
"You have to stay positive, but it's very frustrating. I think Lucic hit the post last night when he was right there. It's tough because you want to get frustrated, it's easy to get frustrated, but you've got to stay positive and sort of laugh at yourself and get through it that way. The more frustrated you get it's just a tumbleweed, it keeps rolling and rolling and rolling and gets worse and worse and worse," Thornton said.
Does this team just need some time to shake off the rust of the offseason? What do they need to do to get better and start recording some wins?
"We need everyone to show up. We need 20 guys to show up and play their best game and we haven't had that other than the Tampa game I suppose," said Thornton.
All this plus was Thornton surprised that former teammate Tomas Kaberle actually put the puck on net last night?
