Toucher & Rich: Brian Scalabrine In Studio
BOSTON (CBS) - Former Celtics fan favorite Brian Scalabrine comically announced on Monday that he would be coming home to Boston, effectively ending his coaching career at the moment in an effort to spend more time with his family and work in a city he loves.
The White Mamba joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show Tuesday morning to discuss his highly anticipated return.
"I enjoyed my time [in Golden State]. I enjoyed working with the players and learning from a different organization," said Scal. "But right now I have three young kids and it's probably a better move for me to focus more on doing broadcasting, which is a less-stressful job, and spending more time with my family. And what better place to do that than Boston?"
Brian Scalabrine will work for Comcast SportsNet New England as the color analyst alongside Mike Gorman covering the Celtics on away games, his first job after leaving the coaching ranks.
Scalabrine served as an assistant to Mark Jackson on the Golden State Warriors staff this past NBA season, and in late March was reassigned to coach the Warriors' D-League team.
Scal took the time Tuesday morning to thank Jackson for the opportunity, but acknowledged a difference of opinions led to them not quite seeing eye-to-eye.
Fred, Rich and the Mamba touched on a number of different topics, including the rebuilding Celtics, Doc Rivers, Rajon Rondo and more.
