Time's Up For Southie Parking Savers

SOUTH BOSTON (CBS) - If you live in South Boston, you can't save that shoveled out parking space any more.

As residents drove away from their spaces Thursday morning, some of them left behind a trash barrel, a chair or a cone, to save the spot.

But chances are that the space saver and the space will be gone when they return. They could save the spot up until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

One local told WBZ Radio he doesn't like the policy.

"You should let the neighborhood govern themselves. That's how neighbors get along. That's how neighbors interact. They talk to each other, whether it's about complaints, good things or bad things. The city doesn't have to get involved, people got enough problems."

He put a lawn chair down to save his spot.

It might be the last time he sees that chair.
