Thornton On Toucher & Rich: Paille Might Return In A Few Days
The Bruins are on a three-game winning streak and hope to make it four straight tonight when they host the Edmonton Oilers at the Garden.
B's forward Shawn Thornton joined Toucher & Rich to discuss the success the team has been having on offense, Daniel Paille's injury, Edmonton and Tyler Seguin.
Paille was hit in the face with a slap shot from the Islanders' Steve Staios on Monday. The Bruins forward had surgery to repair his broken nose and will miss the game against Edmonton. Was the shot by Staios an irresponsible one and how soon will Paille return?
"I mean pucks get away from you sometimes, there's no doubt about it," said Thornton. "I think, if the the thing's hopping up on you, maybe take a little bit off it at the last second instead of just trying to hammer the thing as hard as you can at somebody's head."
How soon can we expect to see Paille return?
"I think as long as his head's fine and he can breath and he gets out of surgery fine then I'm going to say a few days. I think he's day to day," said Thornton.
Oilers' goalie Nikolai Khabibulin is having a great season so far, helping his team move to the top of their division. How will the Bruins find a way to get the puck past this red-hot goaltender?
"Well, I used to light him up in practice all the time in Chicago so it should be easy for me. I expect to get at least 12 tonight," Thornton joked.
Since he'll be missing a line-mate in Paille, Benoit Pouliot will be filling in on the Bruins fourth line. Pouliot's play has been better as the season has progressed, including a goal Monday against the Islanders. What does Thornton think of the former Canadien?
And everyone is talking about it. Listen to hear what the Thornton had to say about Tyler Seguin's play this season.
