DA SHOW CBI BRACKET BREAKDOWN

Check out the full CBI bracket here

Given how popularity of NCAA pools, The DA Show went out on a limb and had their own postseason NCAA pool, a CBI Pool. Everyone chipped in a dollar, for the possibility of winning six scratch tickets, million of dollars and endless memories of watching subpar college basketball by mid major tourneys has-beens. Let's take a close look at how the brackets have broken down as we enter a best of 3 final showdown between VCU and St. Louis.

Scoring Breakdown System

  • 1st round: 1 point
  • 2nd round: 2 points
  • Semifinals: 4 points
  • Finals: 8 points
  • Tiebreaker: Location of final 3 game series

Current Standings

Curtis: 17 points (possible points remaining: eight points)

B Robb: 14 points (ppr: 0)

Dr. BS: 12 points (ppr: eight points)

Keefe: 10 points (ppr: 0)

Perks: 9 points (ppr: 0)

J Deer: 6 points (ppr: 0)

DA: 2 points (ppr: -8)

Finals Showdown: VCU leads St. Louis 1-0 in best of 3 finals. St. Louis will be hosting the next two games, (if necessary) so they still have a chance to bring home the coveted CBI trophy, so Rick Majerus has another piece of hardware to serve himself food with. Let's get to the important stuff though, the members of the DA Show CBI pool that have a chance to take home the six scratch tickets up for grabs and a possible 6 million dollars in prize money.

  • Curtis The manager of the DA Show has been the front runner, ever since the opening round of the tournament. It would take a late charge by CBI pool Cinderella, Dr. BS to take down Curtis, but that may be the likely scenario right now after Curtis' SLU pick lost their first matchup to VCU. Curtis will be flying out to St. Louis to address the team before they compete Wednesday night in game 2. The stakes are high but Curtis remains confident in Majerus' crew.
  • Dr. BS The Cinderella of the CBI pool, BS has laid in the weeds for all 3 rounds, lurking in the middle of the pack, waiting for his opportunity. With his final pick intact in VCU, the good doctor is just one game away from shocking the world and bringing home the bacon if VCU takes down St. Louis on the road tomorrow night.

Brackets Busted

  • B Robb His finals pick BU bowed out in the final 4, but there's a strong possibility B Robb will be filing protest on two accords. 1) BU's best player left the team DURING the tournament to "pursue other opportunities." 2) CBI rearranged the bracket after the final 4 was set, forcing BU to face off with VCU before the finals, costing Robb possible points and potentially millions. Expect a suit to be filed soon in court as Robb focuses all his attention on his other postseason bracket in the College Insider Tourney.
  • Perks From the outhouse to the penthouse in just one round. And you though the NCAA bracket was tough. Chuck came out of the gate strong, riding his Morehead and Cougar picks to nailing 7 of his first 8 picks.  Chuck hit a bit of a bump in the road, getting just 1 of his final 4 picks right, with his finals picks biting the dust in the 2nd round. Sorry, Chuck, there will be no Morehead and Cougars in your future.
  • J Deer After being onn Perks heels with 6 points, some questionable 2nd round picks left him with just 2 of  final 4 picks alive (Morehead, IUPUI). Those picks came back to bite him as both Morehead and IUPUI bowed out in the 2nd round. Stick a fork in him. J Deer is done.
  • Keefe is in the middle of the pack now with 10 points, but that's probably where the Sports Hub headliner will peak as his CBI champion pick, Oregon State are out already. Keefe must have missed the memo on OSU being a sub .500 team. Poor research there . He earned a few more points in garbage time, bring his total up to 10 but this one is over for Keefe
  • DA There are bad brackets and then there is DA's bracket. He sits in the cellar right now with 2 points…..and that's all the points he will be getting in this pool. All of his future picks are out. 0/4 on the final four…..pathetic performance. It's safe to say you shouldn't be asking DA for his insight on mid tier NCAA teams playing an irrelevant postseason tournaments.

Tiebreaker locations

The DA Show predicted a potential city to host the  3 game series to break any potential ties at the conclusion of the pool. Here is how they breakdown.

Perks: Did not pick a location, too confused by question (Predicted Charleston/Morehead final)

Curtis: Indianapolis (St. Louis/Princeton final)

B Robb: Boston, MA (BU/VCU final)

J Deer: Indianapolis (Akron/IUPUI final)

Dr. BS: Fairfax, Virginia (VCU/Duquesnse final)

Keefe: Dallas (VCU/Oregon St. final)

DA: Lebanon KS (EKU/DUQ final)

Stay tuned for future updates on the tournament, as the game 2 of the finals are taking place tomorrow night between St. Louis and BU. Feel the CBI madness!
