The Case Of The Leather Jacket: Finders Keepers Or Theft - Episode One.

Podcast

My name is Bradley Jay and I host the Jay Talking radio show which airs every Sunday evening at 10pm on WBZ NewsRadio 1030. Consider this:

Lilla says: "Keep The Jacket."

I recently found a leather jacket and kept it. Here are the details. Consider the situation and decide if taking the leather jacket was the prudent and normal course of action, or was this a morally bankrupt act that is an example of what is wrong with society today.

Here are the details.

I was just about to enter a store when I noticed a paper bag nestled beside a trash receptacle near the entrance of the store. The bag appeared to have been carefully placed there and contained a neatly folded, slightly used, men's leather jacket and a few items of clean and neatly folded women's tops by quality makers.

It appeared to me that someone had placed the bag there because they did not want the items any more, but did not want to be wasteful and throw them away. I kept the jacket and left the rest of the items. The jacket fits me perfectly, looks great, and is a fine addition to my wardrobe. It is a very nice item of clothing.

The dilemma is, did I do a wrong thing by taking the jacket?

I asked the question on WBZ-AM and got a wild array of responses. Some say I acted exactly as the owner of the jacket had intended. Others say this was the wrong thing to do. What do you think?

I will post the on air responses one at a time as a series. Each call brings new information and a different opinion. Listen and tell me what you would have done if you had come across the jacket. Check in soon for episode two. One caller per episode. The next caller has a real problem with what I did.
