Switch Problem Leads To Significant Red Line Delays

BOSTON (CBS) -- You have to wonder, if it wasn't for bad luck, the Red Line would have no luck at all.

A problem with a switch Tuesday led to significant delays during the morning commute. This, amid the first small winter storm of the season.

"Just because it's only, what, a half-inch of snow and some rain, we could have another winter like last year, then what's going to happen," one commuter said. "You would hope that they get that figured out."

The MBTA has spent millions on snow removal equipment and upgraded the Red Line after last year's record amounts of snow.

Tuesday's switch problem, however, was not related to the weather. Still, some commuters they hope the T is better prepared for another season of snow.

"Complications happen every year, they happen whether or not it's snowing, they're going to happen here and there, but hopefully since we had last winter and it was so bad we're going to better know how to handle it this winter," one commuter said.
