Rob Gronkowski Says He's Moved On From Injury Concerns, 'Summer Of Gronk'
FOXBORO (CBS) -- Rob Gronkowski had himself a record-setting season last year, but it ended poorly thanks to a serious ankle injury in the playoffs that required offseason surgery.
Such an injury may cause some to have some trepidation when they step back on a football field, but the 22-year-old said Friday that the injury to him is ancient history.
"The surgery was a while ago," Gronkowski told reporters on the field after the second day of training camp outside Gillette Stadium. "That's what the offseason was for, to get healthy."
Asked if he was at 100 percent, Gronkowski left the answer open to observers.
"100 percent -- I'm out there every day. What does it look like?" he said. "I'm going pretty hard."
Gronkowski also was asked about the so-called "Summer of Gronk," which featured the young superstar acting like a young superstar would. He said the summer of Gronk is over.
"It's training camp," Gronk said. "When it's football time it's all football, nothing but football."
Fellow tight end Aaron Hernandez said that he didn't pay too much attention to Gronkowski's summer exploits.
"I just chill," Hernandez said. "I don't pay attention to most of all that stuff. I'm sure he was having fun. I definitely get laughs when people tell me about some stuff."
