Red Sox Talk With Bobby Valentine
BOSTON (CBS) - With Dale Sveum no longer in the picture, the Boston Red Sox are moving on in their managerial search.
WBZ-TV's Steve Burton has confirmed that former Mets and Rangers manager Bobby Valentine has met with the Red Sox, and more talks will be scheduled for next week.
Valentine has already spoken with GM Ben Cherington and president Larry Lucchino, and there is a mutual interest on both sides.

Valentine has 15 seasons of managerial experience, manning the Rangers from 1985-1992 and Mets from 1996-2002. Valentine won the National League pennant in 2000 with the Mets, only to fall to the New York Yankees in the World Series.
Overall, Valentine has a 1,117-1,072 record while on the bench.

Between his time with the Rangers and Mets, Valentine went overseas to manage in Japan. He did the same when fired by the Mets, spending five seasons with the Chiba Lotte Mariners. With the Mariners, Valentine won the 2005 Japan Series Championship.
While the Red Sox search stalled after meeting Sveum for the second time, they will likely turn their attention to candidates with managerial experience.

The team is said to be taking a bit of a break from their search, with General Manager Ben Cherington in the Dominican Republic this weekend on a scouting trip.
