Report: Francona To Join Broadcast Booth For ALCS

BOSTON (AP/CBS) -- Former Red Sox manager Terry Francona is moving to the broadcast booth.

The Boston Globe reports Francona will join Fox Sports as a color analyst during its coverage of the American League Championship Series.

He's stepping in for Tim McCarver, who will miss the first two games of the ALCS with what the network calls a "medical issue."

Francona stepped down from his manager position with the Red Sox on Friday, saying "it was time for a new voice."

Roche: Franchise At Crossroads

The Red Sox finished September with a record of 7-20 and missed the playoffs, squandering a nine game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays.
