Reddick Called Up, Will Bat 8th For Sox Against Tigers
BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox have recalled outfielder Josh Reddick from Pawtucket, and will bat eighth and play right field against the Tigers on Thursday.
Reddick was needed when Boston placed utility outfielder Darnell McDonald on the disabled list with a quad injury, and is excited to be back in the majors.

"It's always an excitement to be back up here with these guys, especially after a little better start this year than we had last year," the 24-year-old said. "Whatever I can do to come up and help the team is always good for me."
Reddick got the news Wednesday afternoon around 5 pm.
"(In a) big league game, you're going to be excited whether its game one or game 100," he said. "I'm still young, it's still a childhood dream for me to come here and play for a major league ball club. I'm going to get prepared like I do every other day and keep it normal."

Reddick has 12 home runs and 29 RBIs for the PawSox in 44 games this season.
"He went through a stretch where he was real hot," manager Terry Francona said of Reddick. "(He was) hitting the ball to left field, he had some home runs. It sounds like he is seeing a lot more pitches per at bat, which is exciting. Reports are actually pretty good, sounds like he is starting to understand his swing."

Reddick did say he has learned to take more pitches by simply not swinging at ones out of the strike zone. He already has 26 walks this season, after walking just 25 times in 114 games in 2010.
In 56 major league games, Reddick is batting .182 with three home runs and nine RBIs.
