Puppy Stabbed During New Hampshire Home Break-In
MIDDLETON, N.H. (CBS) -- Police are trying to track down the person who stabbed a puppy during a robbery in Middleton, New Hampshire.
Officers were called to a home on Dudley Drive Thursday for a burglary when they found a three-month-old dog that had been stabbed in the chest and abdomen. Police said Friday the dog had surgery and is expected to recover.
Laurie Bilodeau told WBZ-TV the puppy, Jax, belongs to her son. She said the stabbing must have occurred during the day while everyone was working.
"When they came home I guess they saw a big mess and thought maybe Jax got out of the crate. They weren't sure how he got out of the crate but they figured he made the mess. They looked and they had seen blood in different areas of the house and then they checked him and they saw that he had been stabbed two to three times," she said. "You could tell he was in pain."
Bilodeau was shocked to hear what happened because Jax is "precious" and "he probably was licking the people that walked in there and did what they did. He's not growling because he's just not there yet. He's just a little baby."
She cannot imagine her son's family was targeted and told WBZ-TV the landlord said the people living in the house before her son were also robbed.
Police are investigating and hope the public will come forward with anything they know or saw. "Any information will be greatly appreciated," they said in a press release.
