Police Search For Bear In Newton
NEWTON (CBS) – The search is on for a bear in Newton.
Residents alerted police after spotting the animal napping in the neighborhood near Rowe Street Friday night.
At one point, police believed they had the bear cornered, but it got away.
"At this point the bear is somewhere in the Auburndale area," Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker said.
The city sent out a robocall to residents advising them to stay inside, and to turn on their motion detector lights if they had them.
