Patriots Reportedly Release Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa

BOSTON (CBS) -  One week after cutting Kyle Arrington, the Patriots parted ways with another member of their secondary.

Chimdi Chekwa, whom the Patriots signed to a one-year deal back in March, was reportedly informed of his release by New England on Monday, according to Pro Football Talk.

Chekwa, 26, was drafted by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He has started just four times in 32 career games.

The Patriots have had the most turnover at the cornerback spot this offseason, with Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner chief among the departures. Other notables to be let go of include Alfonzo Dennard and Kyle Arrington.

The New England cornerback depth chart now looks like Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Bradley Fletcher, Robert McClain, Justin Green and Darryl Roberts (rookie, 7th round).
