Patriots' Chris Hogan Injures Shoulder At Practice, Expected Back Soon

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots' wide receiver corps can't afford another serious injury with Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola still recovering from offseason surgery, but it sounds like they avoided one with one of their bigger additions. Receiver Chris Hogan is expected to be out a short time but return soon after injuring his right shoulder during a blocking drill at Sunday's practice at Gillette Stadium.

Hogan underwent treatment after practice, during which he tried to stay in after injuring his shoulder and trying to "shake it off," according to a report by the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe.

The Patriots held Hogan out of Monday night's practice, but the receiver is not expected to miss much time before returning. Hogan has caught seven passes from Tom Brady during camp and another three from Jimmy Garoppolo, according to Howe.

Hogan, 27, was one of the Patriots' most expensive free agent additions in the offseason, signing a three-year, $12 million deal as a restricted free agent. He carries a $5.5 million cap hit for the 2016 season.
