Patrick Kennedy And Wife Have Baby Boy

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Former Rhode Island U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy and his wife, Amy Petitgout, have welcomed a baby boy to their family.

Owen Patrick Kennedy was born on Sunday at 5:30 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 19 ½ inches long.

The birth was announced in an email sent by Kennedy's brother, Edward Kennedy Jr.

Patrick Kennedy married Petitgout in July at the Kennedy family compound on Cape Cod.

Petitgout is a middle school teacher from Brigantine, N.J., and has a young daughter, Harper, from a previous marriage.

The email says Harper is happy to be a big sister and that Owen "stopped crying only when he was in his big sister's arms."

Since leaving Congress in January 2011, Kennedy has been campaigning to boost brain research.
