Norton Soldier Dies From Combat Wounds Suffered In Afghanistan
NORTON (CBS) - A decorated soldier from Norton has died from combat wounds.
The Department of Defense announced that Master Sgt. Gregory R. Trent, 38, passed away at a Maryland hospital on August 8. A week earlier, he was shot when his unit came under fire in Afghanistan.
During his military career, Trent, who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, earned the Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart.
Trent was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.
He leaves behind a wife, daughter, parents, and a brother.
