NH man accused of dragging trooper during traffic stop

New Hampshire State Police say a driver tried to drag a trooper away during a traffic stop on Interstate 93.

Trooper Chad Lavoie stopped a car for going 89 mph in a 65 mph zone near exit 4 in Londonderry.

Lavoie said as he approached the vehicle driven by 44-year-old Jeff Therrien of Manchester, Therrien reached out, grabbed him by the left wrist and hand, and pulled him toward his window. State Police say he put his car in drive and started to pull forward.

Police say Lavoie was dragged about 10 feet or less before he was able to grab Therrien and pull him away from the steering wheel.

Therrien faces charges of felony reckless conduct and felony simple assault.
