Wandering Newton Bear Likely Found Dead By Route 128
NEWTON (CBS) -- Police believe the bear that was seen wandering Newton has met an unfortunate end.
The bear was originally spotted napping in the neighborhood near Rowe Street on Oct. 8. The city sent out a robocall to nearby residents warning them to stay inside as they searched for the bear.
On Thursday afternoon, Environmental Police found a deceased bear on Route 128 by Route 30 in Newton. It's not clear if the bear was hit by a vehicle or died by the side of the road.
"The Environmental Police believe it is probably the same bear," officials said.
