Monotonously Muggy

As I compose this blog today, I am listening to a CD of the Essential Rachmaninoff specifically Prelude In C Sharp Minor which was his greatest masterpiece. I am listening to this in memory of a very dear friend that we lost recently. She was my wife's mentor. As a nurse, Jane gave loving care to her patients for 40 years in addition to raising 5 children. For much of her life, she studied piano and we had the great privilege to be present at some of her recitals. I will always remember the one when she played Prelude In C Sharp Minor. She was very proud of this accomplishment. This morning at her memorial service, we were all touched by a recording of her playing this masterpiece. Have a look and listen to this piece played by a pianist in Sweden a few years ago.

Weatherwise, a few spotty showers and storms occurred today and the threat will still exist through tomorrow afternoon but there should not be a repeat of yesterday's widespread drenching and isolated wind damage. The very humid weather with dewpoints in the oppressive zone near or just over 70 will last into tomorrow night then somewhat drier air will be enjoyed here on Monday and Tuesday. With varying amounts of clouds around tonight, it is unlikely that there will be many areas with enough clear sky to view the Perseid Meteor Showers. Take a peek after 11pm. Expect low temperatures near 70 with a few foggy places followed by highs in the lower to middle 80s tomorrow as breaks of sunshine are probable. Presently, it appears that a batch of showers and storms could ride northeastward and impact especially southeastern MA and Cape Cod in the early morning hours. If all goes well, this action will exit before the Falmouth Road Race starts at 10am. A shower or boomer could pop up anywhere the rest of the day but much of the time should be rain-free.

Looking ahead, mainly sunny weather with less humid but not super dry conditions will be here at the beginning of the week. It will still be warm with highs near 87 degrees. Clouds will arrive later Tuesday afternoon leading to the next round of showers and storms on Wednesday as it turns humid again. Lots of clouds will break for some spells of sunshine and a few spotty showers on Thursday with highs in the middle 80s. A bubble of high pressure will deliver some nice sunshine next Friday with highs in the middle 80s. After that, it will turn unsettled with more showers and storms expected next Saturday into Sunday.

Joe Joyce delivers his AccuWeather Forecast in the morning and I shall return later in the day.

Good luck to the 11,000 runners in Falmouth tomorrow and everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend.
