More than 100 Methuen homes lose water service
METHUEN - More than 100 homes in Methuen lost water service early Monday morning.
A water main that's more than 100 years old broke on Oakland Avenue near Railroad Street around 1:30 a.m.
The water department told WBZ-TV the city lost half-a-million gallons of water before they were able to isolate the issue.
Repairs were finished late Monday morning and the city said that water service was "being restored slowly."
Drivers are asked to avoid the area during the cleanup.
